VBmatch hosts several Indoor Volleyball Leagues in the Bay Area. Each league is separate.
This is the Information and Registration page for our Wednesday SAN FRANCISCO Optional Power-Coed 6s League. The new season of this League will start on Wednesday 11/1/2023.

League Format: Optional Power-Coed 6s
Games are played on a men's net. Teams may field either 4 men & 2 women or 3 men & 3 women. To level the playing field, teams with only 3 men may use back-row block assist.
Regular Season Games are self-officiated. If two teams can't agree on a call, the point is re-played.
For Playoff Night, teams that are not playing a particular round will be assigned to officiate the playoff matches and teams that are eliminated from the playoff bracket will need to stay one extra round to help officiate.
League Time: Tuesdays 6:30pm to ~10:00pm. For each team, game start-times vary week-by-week and will be communicated by email in advance.
League Duration: This time around, we will have a short season lasting about 7-8 weeks (11/1, 11/8, 11/15, 11/29, 12/6, 12/13 & 12/20 (we skip 11/22 due to Thanksgiving)). Each team will be scheduled on average for 3 regular season games per week for the first six weeks (i.e. during regular season). This will be followed by League Playoffs where we use a standard single elimination bracket.
*The League Fee is based on the number of regular season games (NOT the number of weeks). After regular season, all teams will automatically advance to League Playoffs with the following EXCEPTION :
A team that "calls in a forfeit" less than 24-hours before the scheduled game time (or simply fails to show up for one or more scheduled regular season games) will lose the opportunity to advance to playoffs.
League Fee Schedule for Teams: EARLY Registration (if deposit paid BY or BEFORE 10/25/2023) $600-per-team. REGULAR Registration (if deposit paid AFTER 10/25/2023) $700-per-team.
League Fee for Individual Free Agent Players: $120-per-player
* VBmatch reserves the right to charge a higher price for individual players who consistently create issues that require additional time (on the part of VBmatch staff) to resolve. For example, some individuals repeatedly cancel and request a "sub" on league days (instead of cancelling in advance) which increases the amount of work for VBmatch staff.
In general, each team will be scheduled to play (on average) 3 games (appx. 1 hours) each league night (when the team does not have a BYE). Teams will get a 10-minute warm-up period (5 minutes of peppering and 5 minutes for hitting line prior to their first game of the evening; games are rally-scoring to 21 (win by 2; cap at 23).
There may be some evenings when a team is scheduled to play more than 3 games or scheduled to play just 2 games.
Again, the league fee is based on the number of regular season games your team is scheduled to play (NOT the number of weeks).
NOTE: Based on the initial team registration fee, teams may have up to 10-players on their roster: 6 core players and 4 subs. Additional subs are allowed and must be added to the team roster but teams must pay an extra $5 for each additional player on their roster beyond the first ten (10) players. (Our insurance premium is based on the total number of unique participants. Furthermore, this policy encourages teams to play with stable rosters. If a team plays with a different lineup of players each week, the record (game scores) and ranking for that team becomes less and less meaningful.)

Free Agents (Individuals Without a Team): Individuals without a team may sign up for the Free Agent wait-list. Please be sure to indicate the league you’d like to join since we have multiple leagues on different nights in East Bay and SF. Please also provide your height, your preferred position(s) and some information about your volleyball background, experience and skill level. We will try to find an appropriate team to place you on.
NOTE: Space is limited, so we will send you an email after we receive your deposit to let you know if we can accept your entry. You are NOT officially registered until you receive a confirmation email from us.
LEAGUE CANCELLATION POLICY: Please note that we reserve the right to cancel the league at our sole discretion. In the event of cancellation, teams currently registered at that time will receive a pro-rated refund of the fees paid. The league may be cancelled for various reasons including, but not limited to: inclement weather; unavailability of equipment/facilities/site for the league; inadequate number of entries; schedule conflicts of the tournament organizer; etc. In the event of a cancellation, notification will be sent via email.
IMPORTANT NOTE: IN ORDER TO PARTICIPATE, YOU WILL BE REQUIRED TO SIGN AN ASSUMPTION OF RISKS / WAIVER OF CLAIMS / RELEASE OF LIABILITY / INDEMNITY / BINDING ARBITRATION / WAIVER OF STATUTE OF LIMITATIONS AGREEMENT (BEFORE YOU START PLAYING). Please contact us if you have any questions or would like to see this Agreement prior to the first day of the league. A Junior Player must be 14-17 years-old and must have a signed parental consent / waiver form.

INDIVIDUALS without a team can sign up for the FREE AGENT LIST
NOTE: If you cancel after a spot has been reserved for you, you will only receive a full refund if you cancel at least 21-days ahead of the league's start date. If you cancel less than 21-days ahead of the league's start date, you will receive a refund less a $20 administration fee IF AND ONLY IF the league is full (i.e. sold out) AND we are able to find a team to replace your team.
