This is the registration page for the Winter 2012 season of VBmatch's East Bay Monday Indoor Dual-Coed 6s League.
*League games will be played at various gyms in the Alameda, Berkeley and other nearby cities. We are finalizing the gym location(s) and we're aiming to start on Monday 1/23.
To register for the league, submit your Team Roster via this Online Form and then reserve a spot by paying a deposit via the online payment button below -OR- by mailing a check. The FULL entry fee is due no later than 1/23/2012 (on-site at the first day of league).
Format of Monday League: Indoor Dual-Coed 6s Dual-Coed is where half of the games are played on a men's height net with coed rules and the other half are played on a women's height net with reverse-coed rules (women play as usual; men hit from 10 and may NEVER block). There is neither a male-contact rule nor a female-contact-rule. Teams may use Back-Row Block Assist.
Free Agents (Individuals Without a Team): Individuals without a team may sign up for the Free Agent Wait-List. Please indicate which league you’d like to join. Please also provide your height, your preferred position(s) and some information about your volleyball background, experience and skill level. We will try to find an appropriate team to place you on.
League Details: We are aiming to start on Monday 1/23/2012. The league will run for approximately 8 to 11 weeks (depending on the number of registered teams, gym availability and other factors). Each team will be scheduled to play nine (9) coed matches and nine (9) reverse-coed matches. Each match consists of two games to 25; win by 2; cap at 30.
On most nights of regular season, teams will play two 1-hour matches and officiate for 1-hour. There may be some nights when a team plays only one match or three matches instead of two. There may also be some nights when certain teams have a "bye."
If there are more than 10 teams in the league, you will get to play against each opponents at least once; you will play against some opponents twice (once in each format). About the 3rd or 4th week into the season (after each team has established a record), the schedule will be adjusted to maximize the number of closely contested games and minimize the number of "blowout" games (games with more than a 10-point spread). There is no point in having a bunch of lop-sided matches. For example, the schedule will be arranged such that the top teams will only play against the bottom teams once (in one format) instead of twice.
Assuming there are more than 10 teams this season, all teams will advance into playoffs, which will be split into upper and lower divisions based on the teams' regular season records. The prize for upper division playoffs will be significantly better than that for lower division to reduce the incentives for sandbagging. (If there are 9 or 10 teams in the league, only the top 8 teams will advance to playoffs.)
Game Start-Times: The game start times will generally be 7:00, 8:00 and 9:00pm and will vary for each team week-by-week. NOTE: Because of challenges with scheduling gym time, we may need to play 4 rounds in 3.5 hours or 3 rounds in 2.5 hours on some evenings ; thus, I will need a certain amount of flexibility from everyone. Each match consists of 10 minutes of warm-up plus 2 games lasting approximately 50-minutes. In addition, you will be required to officiate other teams' matches when you're not playing. The number of games you play on Playoff night will depend on how many games you win.
Team Registration Fee for FULL Season : $620 (NOTE: A $20 discount will be given to teams that register and pay the deposit by 1/18/2012. Also, the team registration fee will be pro-rated if there are fewer than 9 teams because the number of opponents and hence the number of games will be reduced.)
NOTE: Teams may have up to 10 players (6 core players and 4 subs) on their team roster without additional fees. If your team exceeds the 4 subs limit, there will be a $5 fee for each additional player. Subs must be added to a team's roster. Subs are players outside of the league who you bring in to play on your team for one or more league nights. When you "borrow" a player from another existing team in the league, that player does NOT count as a sub and is NOT added to your team roster since that player already belongs on another team in the league.
To register for the league, submit your Team Roster via this Online Form and then reserve a spot by paying a deposit via the online payment button below -OR- by mailing a check. The FULL entry fee is due no later than 1/23/2012 (on-site at the first day of league).
NOTE: Space is limited, so we will send you an email after we receive your deposit to let you know if we can accept your entry. You are NOT officially registered until you receive a confirmation email from us.
LEAGUE CANCELLATION POLICY: Please note that we reserve the right to cancel the league at our sole discretion. In the event of cancellation, teams currently registered at that time will receive a pro-rated refund of the fees paid. The league may be cancelled for various reasons including, but not limited to: inclement weather; unavailability of the facilities/site for the league; inadequate number of entries; schedule conflicts of the league organizer; etc. In the unlikely event of a league cancellation, notification will be sent via email.
IMPORTANT NOTE: IN ORDER TO PARTICIPATE, YOU WILL BE REQUIRED TO SIGN AN ASSUMPTION OF RISKS / WAIVER OF CLAIMS / RELEASE OF LIABILITY / INDEMNITY / BINDING ARBITRATION / WAIVER OF STATUTE OF LIMITATIONS AGREEMENT (BEFORE YOU START PLAYING). Please contact us if you have any questions or would like to see this Agreement before the day of the tournament. A Junior Player must be 14-17 years-old and must have a signed parental consent / waiver form.
