VBmatch will host an indoor WOMEN's 5-1 volleyball tournament on January 29th (Sunday). This is a standard women's 6-on-6 volleyball tournament with one Significant Exception: Teams may choose to employ a SETTER of EITHER GENDER including a male setter if they run a 5-1 setting rotation. If the setter is male, he may only set and play defense. He may NOT block, hit or jump-serve. If the male player causes a ball to enter the opponent's court, that ball must have an upward trajectory when it leaves his hand(s) (similar to the reverse-coed rule).
The rationale behind this exception is that good setters are hard to come by. At the same time, good setting can elevate the level of the game. Therefore, by opening up the setting position to both genders, teams will have a larger pool of skilled setters to choose from.
Each team will be scheduled to play a minimum of 4 pool-play games. All teams advance to playoffs.
Sign up by Tuesday January 24th to get the early pre-registration rate of $23-per-player or $138-per-team. Thereafter, the regular pre-registration rate is $26-per-player or $156-per-team.
NOTE: Substitutions are allowed (between same-gender players). However, teams must pay an extra $5 for each additional player on their roster beyond the first 6. Our insurance premium is based on the total number of participants.

TOURNAMENT CANCELLATION POLICY: Please note that we reserve the right to cancel the tournament at our sole discretion. In the event of cancellation, all players currently registered at that time will receive a full refund of the fees paid. The tournament may be canceled for various reasons including, but not limited to: inclement weather; unavailability of the facilities/site for the tournament; inadequate number of entries; schedule conflicts of the tournament organizer; etc. In the unlikely event of a tournament cancellation, notification will be sent via email.
IMPORTANT NOTE: IN ORDER TO PARTICIPATE, YOU WILL BE REQUIRED TO SIGN AN ASSUMPTION OF RISKS / WAIVER OF CLAIMS / RELEASE OF LIABILITY / INDEMNITY / BINDING ARBITRATION / WAIVER OF STATUTE OF LIMITATIONS AGREEMENT ON THE DAY OF THE TOURNAMENT (BEFORE YOU START PLAYING). Please contact us if you have any questions or would like to see this Agreement before the day of the tournament. A Junior Player must be 14-17 years-old and must have a signed parental consent / waiver form.

NOTE: If you cancel after a spot has been reserved for you, you will only receive a full refund if you cancel at least 5-days ahead of the tournament you registered for. If you cancel less than 5-days ahead of the tournament, you will receive a refund less a $20 administration fee IF AND ONLY IF the tournament is full (i.e. sold out) AND we are able to find a team to replace your team.
