VBmatch will host an indoor Dual-Coed 6s volleyball tournament on March 27, 2010 (Saturday).
For the Dual-Coed Format, half the games are played on men's height net (coed games without a female-touch-rule) and half the games are played on women's height net (with reverse-coed rules where men hit from the 10-foot-line and may never block; no male-touch-rule).
The challenge is to form a balanced team where both the men and women can hit, set and play defense. See below for rules on substitutions and playing with less than 6 players.
Each team will be scheduled to play a minimum of 4 pool-play games. All teams advance to playoffs.
Target Gift Cards will be awarded to the winning team (minimum $60 total in gift cards is guaranteed for the winning team).
Sign up by Tuesday March 23rd to get the early pre-registration rate of $23-per-player or $138-per-team. Thereafter, the regular pre-registration rate is $26-per-player or $156-per-team.
NOTE: Teams must pay an extra $5 for each additional player on their roster beyond the first 6. Our insurance premium is based on the total number of participants.

Rules for Substitutions and Playing with Less Than 6 Players.
Part of the challenge of this Dual-Coed Format tournament is forming a balanced team of 3 men and 3 women capable of effective hitting, setting and defense. That being said, it is often difficult to get exactly 6 people together for a full-day tournament. With this in mind, the following rules apply for substitutions and playing with less than 6 players.
1. Teams may play with less than 6 persons on the court. However, a "ghost" will fill in the missing player's spot. This includes automatically losing a point each time the "ghost" serves.
2. Teams may have more than 6 players on their rosters.
3. Teams must pay an extra $5 for each additional player on their roster beyond the first 6. (Our insurance premium is based on the total number of participants.)
4. The prize awarded to the winning team will be the same regardless of the number of players on the team roster.
5. A team may have "systematic" substitutions using players ON THEIR ROSTER, but "strategic" substitutions are NOT allowed. A male player must be substituted with another male player; a female player must be substituted with another female player.
6. "Strategic" substitutions include (but are not limited to) the following: (1) one person plays all coed games while the "sub" plays all r-coed games; (2) one person plays front-row while the "sub" plays back-row; (3) one person plays when the team is winning while the "sub" plays when the team is losing; (4) one person plays when the team faces tough opponents while the "sub" plays when the team faces easy opponents.
7. "Systematic" substitutions include (but are not limited to) the following: (1) one person plays the entire morning (and must leave thereafter) while the "sub" plays the entire afternoon; (2) two players switch off every match regardless of the format (coed or r-coed); (3) two players switch with each other every six-rotations within a game.
8. For intra-game substitutions, the same two players must substitute in and out for each other.
9. A team that intends to play with substitutions must announce to the Tournament Director (at check-in) their method of "systematic" substitution and get the Tournament Director's approval. The team must actually follow the declared "systematic" substitution.
10. Substitutions necessitated by injuries will be granted by the Tournament Director on a case-by-case basis. If the request for substitution is not granted, the team may play with less than 6 persons on the court. However, a "ghost" will fill in the missing player's spot.
